Our Wedding

Kenny and Alyssa’s story began on the awesome dating app Hinge. Their first chat was all about how they both loved spending time at their grandparents’ cabins. Kenny shared fun stories about his adventures at his families cozy spot in Dent, Minnesota. Alyssa talked about the cool, hidden cabin her family has in the woods in Cooke City, Montana. They bonded over their shared love of fishing from aluminum boats and those quiet moments by the lake—memories they both know will stick with them forever. After chatting a bit more, they decided to have their first date at Rum Fish in Ventura where they naturally ate fish. They talked all night, sharing stories about their lives and really enjoying each other's company. Some of their other early dates were all about hanging on Kenny’s boat, heading out to the Islands, camping, sharing tasty meals, and kicking back at local dive bars. Alyssa just knew this guy was different from the rest. They could chat for hours, and that’s exactly what she loved about Kenny!&nbsp; As time went on, their adventures just kept getting bigger. Traveling to new countries and states together really tested every side of their relationship. They were super excited to meet each other’s families, move in together, get Zoo and Mondo their precious fur babies and even remodel their first place as a team. Alyssa had always dreamed of going to Paris, and she still couldn’t believe Kenny popped the question there. We are so thankful for the life we have together and are very excited for this next chapter as husband and wife. We can’t wait to party with all of you in Cooke City, Montana!

Flights & Rental Cars

We recommend flying into either Bozeman or Billings. Both airports offer rental cars as well as Turo options.Bozeman is about a three-hour drive to the cabin and takes you through Yellowstone National Park. There is a $35 park entrance fee, which provides access for seven days.Billings is about a two-hour drive to the cabin and features a scenic route over Beartooth Pass, with winding mountain roads and incredible views.

Places to Stay

We recommend staying in Cooke City, Silver Gate, or within Yellowstone National Park, as these are the closest areas to the cabin (venue).Alyssa &amp; Kenny and Mike &amp; Cindy (Alyssa’s parents) will be staying at the cabin the week before and the week after the wedding. We would love to spend time with anyone who arrives early or stays after the wedding—provided we’re not busy setting up or cleaning up!

There are several motels and cabins available in Cooke City and Silver Gate. A few popular options include Alpine Motel, Soda Butte Lodge, and Silver Gate Lodging.

CAMPING

There is a campground right next to the cabin called Colter Campground. If you decide to camp, please be sure to bring a RV or trailer, as the area is located in bear country.There are also many campgrounds in Yellowstone National Park, which likewise require a RV or trailer due to bear activity.

If you plan on attending, we recommend booking your reservations as soon as possible, as it’s a small town and accommodations fill up quickly.

GROCERIES

THE COOKE CITY GENERAL STORE IS STOCKED WITH A LIMITED AMOUNT OF GROCERIES. ALSO, THERE ARE ONLY A FEW RESTAURANTS IN COOKE CITY AND SILVER GATE. WE SUGGEST BUYING GROCERIES WHEREVER YOU FLY INTO SO THAT YOU HAVE THE FOOD AND DRINKS YOU MAY WANT OR NEED IN YOUR CABINS, HOTELS OR AT YOUR CAMP SITE!

Travel

The cabin sits at an elevation of 8,000 feet, offering plenty of outdoor adventures in the summer. We enjoy taking the Razor or quads off-roading, and rentals are available in Cooke City. Hiking to nearby lakes is another favorite activity—many of these lakes are home to Rainbow, Brook, and Cutthroat trout, and several others are easily accessible by car.For a bit of local flavor, Cooke City and Silver Gate have a variety of shops and restaurants to explore. You can browse for local crystals and gems or relax with a local wine or beer. Yellowstone National Park is just a five-minute drive to the Northeast Entrance, which leads directly into Lamar Valley. This area is known for incredible wildlife viewing, where you’ll often see bison, pronghorn antelope, bears, moose and—during the early mornings—sometimes wolves. We also enjoy driving to Cody, Wyoming, to experience a rodeo, do some shopping at local galleries, and fish the rivers along the way.

CEREMONY & RECEPTION

Our ceremony will be held in front of the cabin, and the reception will follow just a 5-minute walk down the road on the property. Parking is limited by the cabin, but plenty of parking is available near the reception. Please follow the signs on the trees when you arrive, and take a look at the map below to get oriented.

WEATHER, DIRT, BUGS & ANIMALS

The property is located high in the mountains, as noted on previous pages of our website. Because of this, you may experience sporadic rain showers throughout the day and evening. August temperatures typically range from around 65°F during the day to approximately 40°F at night, so we recommend dressing in layers.A tent will be available at the reception to provide coverage; however, the ceremony itself will be uncovered. Umbrellas will be provided for the ceremony if needed.The property is also located in bear country, and mosquitoes may be present. Bug zappers will be set out to help reduce mosquitoes.Please note that the terrain is uneven and consists mostly of dirt and rocks. We recommend avoiding heels and choosing comfortable footwear.
